Since no one actually sees God in physical form, or hears God in audible form, how do we have a real relationship with Him? God does have a personal interest in you. He knows you far more intimately than you know yourself. He communicates with us in three main ways.
First, the Bible is the written revelation of God to us. Written over a period of 1,500 years by 40 different believers, God spoke to us through the lives and experiences of His followers.20 We recommend using a modern English translation such as The NIV Study Bible, published by Zondervan Publishing House.
Second, God uses the lives and experiences of believers today. This is why being connected to a Bible believing church is so important. By being a part of the lives of other Christians, God is able to speak to you in the context of your life and circumstances.21
Finally, God communicates to us in personal prayer time. Prayer is simply talking to God, and spending time listening in quiet meditation to what He will say to you in your conscience.22 Don't worry about what to say or how to say it. Just be real with God. Be yourself and tell Him about your life.
