Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-39 (NIV) So, you may be asking, "What is CrossCurrent all about?" Well, other than striving to follow the commandments of God, especially the two listed above, we have established a set of six core values that are priorities for our group in our walk.
Core Values
- Ministry should be prayer-centered, God-breathed, and we should expect God to transform the lives of people who are a part of CrossCurrent, to make full devotion to Christ just plain normal.
They devoted themselves to the apostles' teachng and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. Acts 2:42-43- People are looking for authentic relationships, therefore everything we do should place accepting relationships first, regardless of a person's behavior, beliefs, or skills.
Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Acts 2:46-47- Lost people matter to God, and therefore ought to matter to us. Our ministry should have as its highest mission to intentionally seek out non-believing people to communicate God's love to them.
I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 5:10- Excellence in everything we do should be a priority, for excellence honors God and is an act of worship.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24- Life change will occur best in small groups, therefore every believer should be part of a small group.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17- People are looking for a place of significance and service; therefore, every person should be given the opportunity to use their gifts and talents, even if their skill is not superb.
Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10Mission Statement
