Build Relationships

XC Women intend to purposefully build relationships with women both within and outside of CrossCurrent.  We do so in several ways:  Through Prayer, Small Groups, Ladies Morning Out, Quarterly Reflections, Service, and through lightly planned gatherings.  Please take a look at the Calendar to see which of these we are presently offering.

Divinely Designed Retreat

Each fall, XC Women gather together to retreat, connect, and grow in relationship with each other and our Lord. Our 2015 retreat is tentatively planned for October.   If you wish to be a part of this ministry, please contact [email protected]

Prayer

Prayer requests can be sent to [email protected]. Our prayer ministry leader, Laura Brownstein will check the account once a day in the afternoons and send out a mass prayer request then. Laura will be personally praying for your requests when she receives them in addition to sending them out to women who are part of the prayer ministry. If you would like to receive these daily e-mails and pray for the needs of the women of our church, please e-mail Laura at [email protected].  If you prefer to keep your prayer request confidential, please let Laura know and she will only send it to the XCWomen leadership team for prayer.

Seasonal Studies:

"If the only time you get intimate in your marriage is when you turn off the lights, buy this book now.  Sex is about more than just physical encounters under the covers. It's about a lifestyle of passion and intimacy that can be felt throughout the day."  - Kevin Leman

Please join Bree Milrod and Alison Curtis as we discuss the hot topic of sex and intimacy using Kevin Leman's book, Sex Begins in the Kitchen as our springboard.  We will cover one chapter a week (every Tuesday night), and we ask if you can, to have chapter 1 read prior to our first meeting October 7 from 7:30-9:00.  So tuck the kids in bed, give your husband "a see you later kiss" and join the ladies for great company, great discussion and coffee/food. Tuesday nights at the Leesburg Wegmans (upstairs) from 7:30-9:00.  Books will be $10. Sign up through Alison Curtis at [email protected] by 29 September to join us.

Jesus Manifesto: Restoring the Supremacy and Sovereignty of Jesus Christ by Leonard Sweet and Frank Viola. Should believers follow Christianity . . . or Christ? Should we point others to core values . . . or the cross? Charging that today's church has mistakenly framed conversion as a change of direction rather than a change in connection, Sweet and Viola offer a corrective "manifesto" featuring 10 crucial ways to restore the supremacy of Jesus himself. Meet with Patti Broderick and Julie Steele on Monday nights 7 – 9 PM starting 6 Oct 2014 and going through 15 Dec 2014. We will work through this book a chapter at a time in 11 weeks as we discuss the content and challenge each other to apply it to our our lives. We will meet at the home of Sarah Leonard in Ashburn (near the new One Loudoun). Cost will be $10 for the book.  Sign up by 29 September and we will order a book for you. Contact Patti at [email protected] to join us.

Are you living with the stress of an overwhelmed schedule and aching with the sadness of an underwhelmed soul? Lysa TerKeurst is learning that there is a big difference between saying yes to everyone and saying yes to God. In The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions in the Midst of Endless Demands, Lysa will help you:

•        Cure the disease to please with a biblical understanding of real love.

 •        Escape the guilt of disappointing others by learning the secret of the small no.

•        Overcome the agony of hard choices by embracing a wisdom based decision-making process.

Join Carrie Pingry and Laura Brownstein as they read and discuss Lysa’s book via e-mail.  Then plan to have dinner/dessert and discuss the book when most are finished.  Contact Laura at [email protected] to join in!

Ladies Morning Out

Our next Ladies Morning Out will be 25 October, 2014 at 10:30 AM. These are casual Saturday morning events where we usually bring in a speaker to address a relevant topic. They are wonderful events to invite a neighbor or friend to join you.  Childcare is not provided for this event. To learn more, contact Jessica Klotwyk at [email protected].  All ladies are welcome!

Reflections

Our next quarterly Reflections meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 13 August, at 7:00 PM.  This is a time for Cross Current women to come together for a night of worship, connection and accountability with other women of our church. Please come ready to share how the Lord is challenging you to live out Christ in our world.   If you would like to join us or help plan this event, please RSVP to Jill Brooks at [email protected].
